What is KYC and why is it required?
KYC (Know Your Customer) Policy
As part of our regulatory obligations and commitment to responsible gaming, Silver State Lottery requires all users to complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process prior to purchasing tickets or receiving winnings.
KYC verification ensures:
1. Identity Authentication: Validates that each user is who they claim to be
2. Age Verification: Confirms that all participants are at least 18 years of age, as required by law
3. Geolocation Compliance: Confirms the user is physically located in Nevada at the time of ticket purchase
This process helps prevent underage gambling, identity fraud, money laundering, and unlawful out-of-state or international access, and is mandatory for all participants, without exception.
Do You Track User Activity?
Yes. Silver State Lottery uses advanced tracking mechanisms to ensure full legal compliance and protect against fraud. All user activity is securely logged and monitored through:
IP Address Tracking: Identifies network location and flags suspicious access patterns
Device Fingerprinting: Records unique device data to detect unauthorized or duplicate accounts
Clickstream Logging: Monitors behavior within the platform to identify signs of manipulation or bot activity
Geolocation Verification: Confirms the user’s real-time physical location within the state of Nevada
All data is collected, stored, and utilized in accordance with state and federal data privacy regulations and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
What Happens If Someone Attempts to Commit Fraud?
Silver State Lottery enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent activity. Any deliberate attempt to manipulate the system, including but not limited to:
Filing false chargebacks or payment disputes
Spoofing location data to falsely appear within Nevada
Using stolen or falsified identities to create accounts
Attempting to bypass geolocation, device, or KYC controls
…will be considered a serious offense and referred to legal authorities for prosecution.
